This year we have extremely energetic group of ACYOA members. The attendance
has been impressive, averaging about eighteen members. Interest and
enthusiasm in ACYOA has greatly increased, as well as participation. Almost all
of the Sunday School students between the ages of 13 and 17 are active members
in the ACYOA.
The ACYOA has also participated in some community service projects. In the
fall of 2005 we successfully hosted our Fourth Annual Thanksgiving Dinner. In
2006 our members assisted at the Church Picnic and Bazaar. In the past year we
participated in Hye Mr’tsoom Weekends at
For
this upcoming year, we plan to have another top-notch basketball team along
with a strong volleyball team. Also, we are planning our Annual Palm Sunday
Banquet and are looking into hosting an ACYOA Jr. Dance after the Lenten
season.
This past year proved to be very successful and we hope to, with our newly
established Tivan, have an equally productive year. Speaking on behalf of the
entire ACYOA, I would like to thank Der Hayr and the entire

All you guys did a great a job as usual. It was very exciting to see the veterans, Misses Carpenter and Beremian and Mr. Terzian. Alex and Vahan were happy just being Alex and Vahan. What part of don't go out without telling me didn't you understand??? Great cartoon characters Al boy. Michael B spent more time messing with his phone than serving tables. Brandon handled the collection of money like a real wall street accountant. Michael A made enough crosses to send out to all the troops in Iraq. Nicole and Allison graced the head table with their usual style and panache (Vahan may have to look that word up in the dictionary. Here you go Vahan http://dictionary.reference.com/ ) Sarah and Maggie quietly went about their work. Oops, did I say quietly? NOT! Robin is the quiet one. They say look out for the quiet ones cuz you never know what they're thinking. The Bullock boys Daniel and Jeremy remain a steadfast addition to our group, always ready(?) to do what has to be done.
To the new kids on the block, Lauren & Julie, great job at the cake table. We didn't set anyone on fire. Zaven (the lint man) and Anto (look my cell phone bounces) may be on trash detail forever since they did such a great job. Nicole P, Ani and Susan worked their tables like real pros. It was touch and go with Anto throwing up the night before, but he came through. Did anyone see Tim? It's like he was wearing camouflage (Vahan, here you go, again. http://dictionary.reference.com/ ) Now you see him, now you don't. He's the stealth member of our group. Thanks Miss Dodakian for taking time from your busy schedule to be with us. It was great that you came. Even if it was for a little while, we enjoyed your company. The same goes to Oryort Ani. She has her hands full with college and in a short time you will all realize what a big responsibility that is. Thanks for being with us. All kiddingaside, it is my great pleasure to be with all you (even though it may not seem like it, at times). You are the future of our Church and, very sadly, a lot of you will be gone after next year. I am starting to miss you already. I have tried to make sure you will take the Church and The ACYOA with you wherever your future takes you. To the newbies, you have some great times in ACYOA to look forward to and it will be my pleasure to be there for/with you.
I am very proud of each and every one of you and I love you all.
Thanks, Baron Mamish(ian)

A few of our Jrs. went to the aid of Helen Alexander, one of our Parishioners, and raked her leaves
Jacob (Hagop) Kaishian, Michaels Arakelian and Beremian and Alex Arakelian were led by Mr. Michael Arakelian.
Miss Alexander made a donation to the group. We thank her for her generosity.

The blur to the left of Michael B. is Michael A. diving into the leaves as Hagop and Alex look on. |

Just the head of Michael A. finally surfaces as Alex had started frantically digging for his brother. Please note that Michael B. and Hagop had not pitched in to find him, but remained calmly in their place.

A special thanks to the Parents who helped out the group by buying everything for the delicous meal and those who helped cook and clean.
Your support is very much appreciated.

All the ACYOA Jrs. |
The Armenian Church of Our Saviour ACYOA Jrs. hosted their first Dance in over 15 years!!
The invitation went out to all the Chapters in New England. Some of the guests came from as far away as New Jersey.
Everyone who attended had a great time and they said the Juniors of the 508 should host it again next year.

Even the chaperones had a good time? |

Have Phun in Philly
Hye M'rtsoom Wynnewood, PA

The Parish of Saints Sahag and Mesrob hosted this phall classic.
Our kids were very well cared for in the true tradition of Armenian hospitality.
We express our sincere appreciation to Hayr Haigazoun Najarian, the ACYOA and the Parishioners for their warm reception.
The ride down took 7 hours in the pouring rain. Although the traffic accounted for a portion of the long drive time, Mr. Mamishian's getting lost (just outside of Philly) helped a lot. We arrived safely at 11:30. The host families greeted us with tired smiles and we departed to our weekend home away from home.
Armenian Church of Our Saviour ACYOA garnered 2 trophys.
3rd place in Basketball and
the coveted Sportsmanship trophy

Congratulations to everyone! |

Thanks to the cooperation of the traffic and Mr. Mamishian's not getting lost,
the return trip lasted only 5 hours. However 3 food stops were necessary.
The host families commented how well behaved all "my kids" were.
I am proud of all of you.
Mr. Mamishian
30th Anniversary

We had enough members to have our own volleyball team.
What we lacked in team talent was more than made up for in team spirit.
The Armenian Church of Our Saviour was appropriately represented
by a very outgoing group of 6 members and a new friend.
There was enough food and dancing to make each evening a great success.
Sunday evening's "White Tie" Gala formal was highlighted by a chocolate fountain.
Once again Watertown's ACYOA Jrs. under the direction of Brenda Khederian surpassed everyone's expectations.
Special mention should be given to Mr. & Mrs. Duranian who housed up to 27 guests!
The hall was set up the day before. The dinner began with all the Jrs.(past and present) reciting the A.C.Y.O.A prayer.
Outgoing Chairman Marissa Johnson addresses the guests. Robin, Susan and Alexa spoke about their St. Vartan Camp experiences.
The cast and teachers of "Trust Me" anxiously await the opening of the curtain. Clean up was fun.
Everyone had great comments about the whole affair.
CONGRATULATIONS Jrs.!!
ACYOA Jrs. host a Lenten Dinner
The A.C.Y.O.A. Jrs. hosted one of our Lenten Dinners, with the assistance of some dedicated parents.
Homework was not ignored. Der Aram gave a very enlightening talk and we were entertained by a video,
narrated by Alan Boghosian, of Soorp Asdvadzadzin's youths recent trip to help rebuild Armenia.
Thank you everyone for your hard work.

As they say in Armenian “Vartsgut gadar”. A lot of hard work on everyone’s part resulted in donations totaling over $1,800! The majority of which have already been collected. Der Hayr and Mr. Mamishian pose with Mrs. Donian (4th from the right, back row.), ACYOA Chairman Marissa Johnson (3rd from the right front row), and the volunteers who did an outstanding job. |
